An Integrated Pulp and Paper Research Center in North America, 2003 Spring Technical Conference Proceedings
Most industry pilot plant facilities in North America are equipped to do either pulp and stock preparation trials, or paper machine trials. GL&V recently completed a major expansion and upgrade of its Research Center in Watertown NY, creating an integrated pulp and paper research center that is unique in North America. The expansion included the transfer of pilot pulping, refining and screening equipment to Watertown, the rebuild of the pilot paper machine with a new top
former and press section, and the installation of equipment for roll structure analysis. In addition both wet and dry lab facilities were significantly expanded. All of this equipment is not only used for ongoing in-house product development, but is also available for paper companies and other industry suppliers to use for research and testing.
