Reduction in Jet Impingement Sensitivity on Blade Formers, 2002 Technology Summit Proceedings

Keiichi Fujiki

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, LTD. has developed a new technology that combines the best aspects of roll-blade and pure-blade forming. The new technology consists of replacing the initial forming zone with a vented smaller radius blade design. Rework to the former and headbox is minimal.

As in roll forming, the VentaShoeTM traps the jet more symmetrically with positive angle to the wires that reduces the jet impingement sensitivity. Reduction in jet impingement sensitivity leads to fewer light-spot defects and less off-quality rolls. The bladed drainage section provides the superior formation of a traditional blade former.
