Refining Process Data Analysis for Quality/Cost Optimization, 2002 Technology Summit Proceedings

John B. Matthew

This paper describes the application of statistical analysis of data obtained from the PI system of a paperboard mill. The coefficients obtained from extensive regression analysis of this data were then used, together with the appropriate unit cost information for that mill, to provide the input to a simple linear programming model. The purpose of the linear programming model is to provide the most cost-efficient combination among alternative operating conditions.
