The purpose of this standard is to organize and provide information supporting the need for pre-task risk assessments and offers better practice examples for use.  Beyond the development, and execution of pre-task risk assessments, following up on identified opportunities is key.  It is recommended that organizations use this guideline as a foundation for building a new pre-task risk assessment process or improving their existing pre-task risk assessments if they already have one. The objective is to use risk assessment results to mitigate and control workplace risks.
