Pulp Properties and Testing Labs

INTRODUCTION & OVERVIEW:                                                                                                                                      

These labs and videos demonstrate various procedures used to analyze raw materials such as wood, chips, pulping liquor, bleaching chemicals; and the resulting pulp. They will also illustrate with video demonstrations the correct testing procedures. They will also provide background information on the property being tested. The overall learning objective is to increase you understanding of why and how these tests and procedures are performed.

Scope and Learning Objectives:
These labs and videos demonstrate various procedures used to test chips, pulping & bleach liquors and pulp. They will also provide some background about the property being tested. The overall learning objective is to increase your understanding of why and how these tests and procedures are performed.

Laboratories are available as Site Licenses which allow unlimited training at a site (ideal for colleges and universities).

Some of the labs offer sample calculations and analysis of data, and other labs will provide final data without calculations. Each lab contains the following:

1. Learning Objectives.
2. Background  on the property being measured.
3. Reference to a TAPPI Standard
4. Video showing the proper procedure for the test,
5. Sample test data and calculations
6. Thought Questions
